Picking the right window for your Marrakech trip changes everything. The same apartment feels like paradise in October and unbearable in August. After years hosting travellers in our Semlalia studio, here's our honest, month-by-month take for 2026.
The one rule
Marrakech has two ideal seasons: March–May and September–November. June through August is scorching (often 40 °C+). December to February is mild during the day but genuinely cold at night — riads and older apartments without central heating can catch you off guard.
If you can only pick one week in 2026: the second half of October. Perfect temperatures (22–27 °C), guaranteed sun, prices settling after summer, crowds thinning out.
Month by month for 2026
January — the quietest month
- Weather: 8–19 °C. Sunny days, cold nights (sometimes 3–5 °C).
- Prices: the lowest of the year, outside Moroccan holidays.
- Vibe: the city breathes, fewer tourists, easy restaurant reservations.
- Pack: warm layers for evenings, plus a heater at your place if it lacks one.
Good for: remote workers, retirees on long stays, solo travellers seeking calm.
February — still mild and affordable
- Weather: 9–20 °C, a few rainy days possible.
- Prices: still low, gently rising towards the end of the month.
- Ramadan 2026 starts around 17 February (lunar calendar — check closer to the date). The atmosphere shifts: cafés closed by day, the city comes alive at night.
March–April — the peak-but-pleasant season
- Weather: 12–25 °C in March, 15–27 °C in April. The perfect climate.
- Prices: high (Easter, European school holidays).
- Vibe: flowers everywhere, open terraces, heavy crowds in the Medina.
Good for: families, first-time couples. Book 2–3 months ahead.
May — the last good month before summer
- Weather: 17–29 °C. Dry, sunny, still comfortable.
- Prices: mid-high until 15 May, dropping after.
- Late May is the sweet spot if you want the sunshine without the Easter crowds.
June–August — the hot summer
- Weather: 20–38 °C in June, 25–42 °C in July–August. Warm nights (25 °C+).
- Prices: the lowest of the year (except August for Moroccans themselves).
- Reality check: air conditioning and a pool aren't luxuries — they're necessities. Move around before 10am and after 6pm.
Good for: tight budgets, remote workers with proper AC (like at our Semlalia studio), long-siesta lovers.
September — the return of pleasure
- Weather: 20–33 °C. Temperatures ease after the 15th.
- Prices: still low through the end of September.

October — the best month of the year
- Weather: 17–27 °C. Perfection.
- Prices: rising steadily, especially during European half-term holidays (late October).
- Vibe: golden light, perfect terrace weather, the Medina feels manageable again.
Good for: everyone. If you only come once, come in October.
November — quiet after the summer
- Weather: 12–22 °C. Sunny days, crisp evenings.
- Prices: low outside half-term.
- Vibe: perfect for long stays and remote work.
December — the paradox
- Weather: 7–19 °C. Blue skies, cold nights.
- Prices: very low early to mid-December, spiking for Christmas and New Year.
- Book early if you're targeting the holidays. Otherwise, the first half of December is a well-kept secret.

Which season for which traveller?
Couples: October, April, late May. Warm without being brutal, terraces open at night.
Families with kids: Easter (watch the prices), late October, or summer if you have pool access.
Digital nomads: September to November, then January–February. Low prices, calm city, fiber wifi available, cafés open, active nomad community.
Solo travellers: any month except July–August. Late November is especially peaceful.
Long weekend (2–3 days): October, March, November. Avoid July–August unless you plan to stay indoors during the day.
Practical tips
- Book March–April and October early — the best places go 3–4 months out.
- Skip Ramadan for a first visit — the atmosphere is fascinating but can be disorienting.
- Always pack warm layers for evening, even in summer (October–November nights drop to 15 °C).

Does it rain in Marrakech? Rarely. Rain comes mostly in November–December–February, usually in short bursts. A light waterproof is enough.
Is it safe for a solo woman? Yes, Marrakech is a safe city, including for solo female travellers. Normal caution in the Medina at night.
Can I pay in euros? Yes in tourist areas, but the exchange rate is bad. Withdraw dirhams from an ATM (Bank of Africa, Attijariwafa) as soon as you land at Menara.
Do I need a visa? No for touristic stays under 90 days (EU, UK, US, Canada, Switzerland). Passport valid 6 months required.
